Spring Challenge 2023 – action is the key word for this challenge so, let’s add a little action ourselves.
Don Plewes – Very practical, very utilitarian. Not particularly elegant and definitely not fine woodworking… but it works. It’s a purpose built pair of Bunk Murphy Beds for my grandkids.
Dany Coulombe – I made this sewing box for my one of my daughters to keep her sowing tools and supplies together. I used London Plane for the 4 sides ant the top and a piece of recycle beech for the bottom. The trim and hinges are yellow heart, the scissor is maple with an unknown brown wood. The tray sides are maple and mahogany. The bottom is recycle maple plywood. This was my first experience using veneer, the scissors and bobbins were cut with hand tools. Shelf pins were used to set the tray inside the box.
Donald Gray – walnut coffee grinder finished with minwax satin polyurethane.
James Casey – It is a saw vice with a hinge to count as “action”
Don Urquhart – The top is made from our “Wood Recovery” arbutus. The top launcher is made from Eastern Maple, Eastern Black Walnut and butcher cord. An original design using an old concept.
Frank Letchford – Yellow cedar folding Adirondack chair finished with boiled linseed oil.
Bruce Thomson – This whirligig is called “David the Wood Copper”. Made from western maple and finished with acrylic paint. Indicates both wind direction and speed!
Rick Lloyd – This is the cylinder and piston used to lift my work bench. They are actuated by pressure from a 12v pump and hydraulically push the wheels down lifting the bench up 1/2” so I can move it around.
Randy Dahlquist – purpose built box for Door Prizes
Gord MacDougall – bottle-cap launcher
Neil Bosdet – a selection of “smokers” and lathe chisel handles
Miles Gillespie – laminated cedar canoe paddle
