The Avaition Museum
The current President of the British Columbia Avaition Museum, Mr. John Lewis has agreed to take the Guild Members and guests on a tour of the Avaition Museum. The Museum is located next to the airport in Sidney (directions). One of the features of the tour will be the replica wooden aircraft, Hoffar-h-1 that is under construction. The Hoffar-h-1 has some interesting history (click here). This tour will start at 10:30 and last approximately two hours. The cost will be $5.00 per person.
This historical site has a tremendous amount of high quality wood work not only in the artifacts but on the walls, stairs and ceilings. However, there is a strict "no touch" policy with regards to all woodwork, artifacts and furnishings. The castle is not wheelchair accessible as there are 87 stairs. Cameras and flash photography are welcome. The tour will start at 2:00 pm and the cost will be $11.00 per person. For more information about Craigdarroch Castle, vist the website here.
