Knock-Down Bed Joinery
This is the joinery involved for the knock-down joint. The horizontal mortiser makes this relatively easy. The recesses and the slots in the side boards could be made with a router and a template. I use a spacer board so that all the mortises (and corresponding tenons) are exactly the same distance apart. I put the threaded insert in on the drill press with it off, using it as a press. For platform beds the slats get notched on the mortiser to fit over the dowels in the ledger board.
