The January meeting of the Vancouver Island Woodworker’s Guild will be Tuesday, January 13th, 2025 at 7:15 at Lee Valley Tools in Colwood.

Colin Knecht will be presenting. His topic for our January Guild meeting will be “Saw Blade Secrets Uncovered”, a deep dive into understanding saw blade features and how to make the best selection for your table saws, mitre saws, bandsaws and more. Colin is a popular YouTuber with over 675,000 subscribers and over 700 videos uploaded, and the owner of Woodworkweb.com.

The first tour of the new year will be on Saturday January 17, 9:30-1pm +lunch. The first stop is the shop and home of Karen Trickett and Cam Russel of Coventry Woodworks. The shop is an excellent dedicated woodshop and the home was custom built and filled with furniture Cam and Karen have made over the years. The tour starts at 9:30 and go until 11. The next stop is Michael Moore’s shop which is an incredible wood and metal shop. You have to see this one to believe it. Michael’s tour will be until 12:30/1. Lunch is booked at the Cobblestone Pub at 2:00. Maximum 20 people and carpooling is encouraged as both shops are in the Cobblehill/Duncan area.

A bandsaw setup and use demo will be held at Michael Moore’s shop just south of Duncan on Saturday February 21. Michael is a very experienced woodworker and fabricator and has restored many machines over the years. This demo will be approximately 3 hours, starting at 9:30 and the cost is $20 per person.
