Recognition List

The Vancouver Island Woodworker’s Guild have a process for recognizing Guild Members that give their time and energy to making the Guild function as well as it does. A wooden pen engraved with “VIWG” and the Member’s name is presented to the Member after they have completed their time in a particular position whether that be on the Executive or part of a committee.

The “Recognition List” is to honor the work of a Guild Member that has surpassed the expectations of the Guild Executive and significantly contributed to the Mission of the VIWG. A Member may be nominated while continuing with their work or function in order to recognize their ongoing contribution. This form of recognition does not replace the abovementioned presentation of an engraved pen after completion of a Member’s participation.

Criterion for the Nomination to the “Recognition List”:

  • The nominee must be a Member in good standing but not a member of the current Executive Committee
  • The nominee must be sponsored by an Executive Member of the Guild
  • The nominating Member must provide the Executive with examples of the nominee performing the tasks of a particular job or function that are above and beyond the expectations of the Executive Committee
  • The acceptance of the nominee to the “Recognition List” by the Executive must be unanimous
  • With the approval of the Executive Committee, the nominating Member will, on behalf of the VIWG, purchase and have engraved a small personalized gift that will be presented to the nominee at the next VIWG Annual General Meeting by the VIWG President
  • The VIWG Executive Secretary will maintain the “Recognition List”
