VIWG Tour to the Port Townsend Woodworkers’ Show

November 3-4, 2018

VIWG is organizing a tour for interested members to the 13th Annual Port Townsend Woodworkers’ Show.

The Woodworkers’ Show features work by master woodworkers from around the greater Olympic Peninsula region including furniture makers, cabinetmakers, turners, carvers and instrument makers.
Show hours are 11 am – 8 pm on Saturday, November 3rd, and 11 am – 3 pm on Sunday, November 4th.
Admission to the Woodworkers’ Show is free.

COST
The cost for this tour is estimated at about $90 per participant for transportation (including ferry, rental van, fuel) from Victoria to Port Townsend, and return.
Additional expenses for participants will include one night (Saturday) accommodation in Port Townsend, and meals.

ANTICIPATED SCHEDULE
Saturday, November 3rd:
The Coho Ferry departs Victoria Saturday morning at 10:30 AM, arriving in Port Angeles at 12:00.
It is an approximately 1 hour drive from Port Angeles to Port Townsend.

Participants will visit the amazing Edensaw Woods lumberyard (http://www.edensaw.com) Saturday afternoon before proceeding to the Port Townsend Woodworkers’ Show, which is open until 8:00 PM.

Participants are responsible for arranging their own accommodation in Port Townsend for Saturday night.  The Guild will attempt to arrange a discounted fare for lodging in Port Townsend.  Details to follow.

Sunday, November 4th.
The Guild is hoping to arrange a tour of a woodworking school in Port Townsend on Sunday morning.  If this is not possible, a walking tour of the Port will be planned.

A 1:00 PM departure from Port Townsend will synchronize with the Coho Ferry sailing at 2:30 PM back to Victoria.
Arrival back in Victoria will be 4:00 PM.

ACCOMODATION
We will attempt to obtain a block of rooms for members at the Harborside Inn at approximately $100 USD per night.  Details to follow.

DEADLINE TO SIGN UP
Tuesday, October 9th. (October monthly Guild meeting)

NOTES
* A valid Canadian passport is a requirement.
*The Canadian dollar is currently worth approximately 75 cents USD, so expect to pay a 30% premium.
* Duty free allowance is $200 for a 24 to 48 hour visit.  Our visit is planned for 26.5 hours.  The allowance increases to $800 for visits exceeding 48 hours if you plan on staying longer.
